“ GEOGRAFÍA PUNK”

Life is immersed in chaos and disorder, sustained by the rhetoric and symbols of what once was a Cuban socialist experiment that left a significant controversy in our generation, impacting or driving my sensibility to illustrate the world of dispossessed people. The members of punk communities, loyal to the “do-it-yourself” philosophy, live a simple life, advocate ecological practices and carry forth various social projects. This series features photos taken in Germany and Mexico, where urban tribes have continued gaining strength, and captures the life and actions of both groups, separated by geographical distance and social and cultural environments, yet with similar beliefs and ideologies in terms of consumerism, inclusion and participation. I showcase the similarities between both communities and at the same time the specificities that identify them based on their respective environments. Punks have remained active in the last few decades and have influenced considerable sectors in society.
